Presbyterians believe baptism is a sign and seal of God's incorporation of believers into the body of Christ, and of our inclusion in God's grace and covenant with the church. We believe in one universal baptism. We believe that people come to faith at different stages in life; and we practice both adult and infant baptism.
Infant baptism emphasizes our belief that before we can choose to follow Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, it is God who chooses us for faith, discipleship, and salvation. Without God, we have no power to claim these things for ourselves.
